Your 17th Century Self Portrait
Back in the 17th century, there were no cameras or selfies. It was only fusain or paint. Rich people would have their portraits painted by famous painters, such as Rembrandt, Vermeer or Frans Hals. But these artists also painted themselves…
How would you like to become a 17th century painter and create your own self portrait?
The “Your 17th Century Self Portrait” is a perfect hands-on activity for both adults and children. Once you have entered the big, private workshop, it’s time for a change of clothes. You will dress up as rich people of the 17th century. Make sure you look nice as you are about to take a 17th century selfie! A photo will be taken of each member of your family (as well as a family photo, just for fun!)
With the help of an expert and professional art teacher, everyone will start creating their self portrait. You don’t need to be the real Rembrandt. Just follow the instruction of your private art teacher, and things will be just fine. And not only will you have a beautiful Rembrandt-like self portrait in 2.5 hours, but you will also have had a wonderful, family bonding moment together!
A perfect way to enjoy some family time in Amsterdam, and a great activity to combine with a visit to the Rijksmuseum (An Introduction To The Dutch Masters).
