Description

The old city of Toledo is a must see when spending a few days in Madrid.

Meet your private, fully licensed guide and your private chauffeur at your hotel and hop into a luxurious Mercedes V-class minivan to reach Toledo. Located only an hour away from Madrid’s city center, Toledo is a historical highlight and a charming city you must not miss when traveling with your children in Spain.

Your first stop will be at the top of a hill for a beautiful panoramic view of the old historical center of Toledo. This is a perfect place for an introduction on the city and its historical importance, and a great area to take pictures!

Once you make it inside the historical center, let your guide take you through its narrow streets which lead to some of Toledo’s most famous highlights. These highlights include the unique Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes (a superb monastery built at the very end of the 15th century), the Synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca, the Synagogue of El Transito, the Church of San Roman and the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz.

Along the way, you will also see the exteriors of magnificent architectural wonders such as the Iglesia de Santo Tomé (a church built on the ruins of a mosque, and famous for being the home of a famous painting by El Greco), the Iglesia de los Jesuitas, the imposing cathedral of Toledo (Santa Iglesia Catedral Primada de Toledo), and the Alcazar (a Moorish building built during the times when Spain was under Muslim rule in the 16th century.)

To make it extra-engaging for your children, each one will get a special game booklet. With this, the young ones will learn about the historical legacy of Toledo as much as they will have fun!

Be sure not to miss Toledo during your time in Spain!

(Should you wish to stay longer and enjoy visiting the inside of the Cathedral, the Alcazar, enjoy a hands on workshop making marzipan (a local specialty), or ride the zip-line to head back down, please contact us)

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting Toledo and its highlights.
When is the best time to visit Toledo?
The majority of the people tend to come in the morning to visit, especially during the summer when the mercury rises dramatically in the afternoon. However, if you can stand the heat, a visit in the afternoon is much more quiet.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
Because there is quite a lot of walking, we suggest to keep the minimum age at 6 years old.
How far is Toledo from Madrid?
Toledo is 68km (42 miles) from Madrid, and it will take about 1 hour to reach the city by minivan. You can also take the train to Toledo from Madrid's Atocha train station.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! The guide will know how to keep them engaged and entertained throughout the tour, as there are many fun facts and stories to tell about the history of Toledo.
