The Carnival Of Venice
Carnival, which takes place at the end of February, is a great tradition in Venice. But even if you are not in Venice at that time, you can’t miss this iconic Venetian event. You might not have to wear a mask, but after this fun-filled activity, you will have your own, self-made carnival mask!
To better understand the tradition and origins of the Carnival, our expert guide will take you on a fascinating discovery of Ca’Rezzonico, a museum dedicated to 18th century Venice. It is the best place to learn about Carnival and see the different masks and what they represent. You will also better understand the life and times of Venice some 200 years ago.
After this 1 hour introductory class, you will head to a traditional mask making workshop. After a brief introduction on the art of mask making, you will get to choose your plain papier-maché mask and start adding colors, glitter, sparkles and feathers. By the end of the 2 hours, each member of your family will leave with his or her own personal mask.
Thanks to this complete activity and hands-on experience, the Carnival won’t have any secrets anymore!
