Description

Picasso is Spain’s most famous modern artist, and Guernica his most famous painting.

Meet your private, experienced art teacher in front of the Reina Sofia Museum and let her take you on a quick tour of the museum. Among other works by Picasso, Dali, Miró and other modern artists, you will see Guernica, and learn the symbolic value of this massive painting. Our art teacher is the perfect person to explain the abstract concepts of modern art and the different movements that have marked the 20th century (Cubism, Dadaism, Surrealism etc.).

After this quick 45-minute cultural visit, and a 10-minute walk to the workshop, you and your children will put on your aprons and enjoy creating your own reproduction of Picasso’s masterpiece. Just follow the instructions of your teacher, and let your creativity run free. It doesn’t need to be a perfect reproduction, it can also be a different version of Guernica. Who knows, maybe one day, your work will be exposed in this prestigious museum!

You will walk out of the workshop with your own family-created replica of Guernica neatly rolled for you to carry easily.

FAQ's

Is this a private activity?
It sure is. You will have your own private guide inside the museum, and your family will be the only one in the art workshop, along with your private art teacher. There will be other people visiting the museum at the same time though.
Do the parents participate?
Of course! You will be creating your own version of Guernica as a family. That is the fun part!
When is the best time to visit the Reina Sofia Museum?
During the months of summer, the museum can be very busy. It is always better to go there at the time it opens or later in the afternoon to avoid having to elbow your way through the crowd. During the low season, it gets less crowded.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
It is better to keep the limit of 6 for this experience, mostly because of the first part at the museum.
Is it far to walk from the museum to the workshop?
It will take you about 10 minutes by foot to reach the workshop after leaving the museum.
Can I paint something else than a reproduction of Picasso?
The idea of this workshop is to introduce you and your family to Picasso and Guernica. But should you want to do something different, in the likes of Picasso, you are more than welcome to. At the end, creating a family-bonding moment where everyone enjoys themselves is what matters most.
Do I need to bring special material?
No! You do not need to bring anything as all the material is prepared for you.
Are we leaving the workshop with anything?
Of course, you will leave the workshop with your creations. We will make sure that these aren’t too bulky and heavy, so you can easily put them in your suitcase.
Will my teenage kids like the activity?
If they like arts & crafts, they will love this hands-on activity. However, if they don't care much for art, then we recommend checking out some of our other activities.
