Hurling and Gaelic football are two very popular sports in Ireland, even more so than soccer or basketball!
Meet your private, experienced instructor on a special private field located outside the city of Dublin and let him tell you all about the origin of these 2 sports, filled with stories and legends.
After a quick stop at the dressing rooms (if you want), and once on the field, your guide will give you the basic rules and techniques of hurling and Gaelic football. Hurling is played with a wooden stick (a bit like field hockey) while Gaelic football looks a bit like soccer, but hands can be used. You and your family will be running around the field and having loads of fun.
Just enjoy participating in the fun challenges and you will spend two unforgettable hours!

Is this a private activity?

It sure is. Your family members will be the only ones taking this course, but there might be other people playing on other fields.

Do the parents participate?

Of course! Everyone will be breaking a sweat!

Is this a dangerous sport?

Hurling can be dangerous as heavy sticks are swung to hit the ball far away, and there is no real protection gear. However, you will not be participating in any real game, and therefore there are no injuries possible, especially when supervised by your private instructor. Gaelic football is less dangerous.

Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?

These sports can be played by children under the age of 6, but it requires some good coordination skills. So if your young ones are into sports and have a lot of energy to spend, we can accept young children. Otherwise, it is better to set the minimum age to 6. Just remember that the instructor is not a babysitter!

How can I get to the field?

The field where this introductory class takes place is located outside the city. If you do not want us to arrange a private transfer, you can always take a taxi. It will take about 30 to 45 minutes to get there depending on the traffic.

Do we need to bring special material?

No. All you need to bring is a big smile and the energy to play ball! In terms of clothes, make sure you wear comfortable sports clothes that you won't mind staining.

Will my teenage kids like the activity?

If they are into sports and want to try something new and typically Irish, this is definitely something they will love.
