In The Footsteps Of Cezanne
Walk in the footsteps of famous painter Paul Cézanne through a visit of his own atelier and through a fun-filled hands-on outdoor painting class.
Paul Cézanne is one of the most famous French Post-Impressionist painters and he lived most of his life in Aix-En-Provence.
This fantastic hands-on workshop starts with the visit of Cézanne’s very own atelier, located just outside the city center. This was where Cézanne spent most of his time painting, and he had arranged this big atelier to let as much light pass through. Since his death in 1906, the atelier has been kept exactly the way Cézanne left it. His personal objects, hat and apron are still there!
This quick 15 minute visit to the atelier will give you just enough insight about the life and works of Paul Cézanne, and therefore enough inspiration to become the next Paul Cézanne. Follow your teacher inside the garden of the atelier or up on to the Painter’s Terrain (Le Terrain des Peintres) and you’ll be able to start painting just like the post-impressionist.
By listening to the instructions and advice of your private art teacher, you and your children will each create their own work of art. With a small canvas in hand, let your emotions dictate what needs to be painted on the canvas, using only brushstrokes and colors. This is a great way to learn about the technique and art of Paul Cézanne.
If you want to explore more of Cézanne’s world and art with your children, we can arrange a child-friendly visit of the Granet Museum. Just let us know and we’ll be happy to arrange it, making sure that your children will learn as much as they have fun (additional costs apply).
Warning: due to strong winds (Mistral), this workshop can be cancelled or postponed.
