The Carnival of Venice takes place at the end of February each year, and it is one of the most well-known traditions of Venice. This fun-filled and educative activity lets you discover the meaning, traditions and codes behind this festive event.
The first part of the tour is a privately guided tour of the Ca’Rezzonico museum. Let our private, fully-licensed guide show you around this iconic Venetian museum and explain what you need to know about the carnival tradition. What, when, where and simply why was Carnival celebrated here? This engaging introduction in a museum dedicated to 18th century Venice will help you better understand the tradition and origins of Carnival.
After this 45-minute visit, follow your guide as they lead you through the narrow streets of Venice to one of the best mask-making workshops in the city.
Meet your private and experienced art teacher and after a few wise words on how to create your own carnival mask, it’s your turn to choose your mask and decorate it as you please using feathers, glitter, paint etc. By the end of this 2-hour hands-on workshop, each member of your family will leave with his/her own personal carnival mask.
If you are not interested in the museum and want to do the workshop only, please book our Carnival of Venice mask-making workshop.
