Description

The Palazzo Vecchio (“Old Palace”) is one of Florence’s landmarks, and one of its highlights as it has been dominating the city’s skyline for centuries.

Meet your private, fully-licensed guide and let him/her tell you all about the secrets and highlights of this impressive palace and make you travel through various historical periods. Once a Roman ruin, the Palazzo Vecchio was turned into a mighty fortress to protect the city from possible enemy invasions. During the 16th century, it was partly transformed with Renaissance chambers and paintings. Today, it serves as the town house of Tuscany’s capital city.

In order to keep this visit equally entertaining and fascinating for children, they will each get a game booklet. From there, just enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the city!

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting the Palazzo Vecchio at the same time.
When is the best time to visit the Palazzo Vecchio?
During the summer season and special holidays, it can get pretty crowded, but most of the tourists prefer to see the Palazzo from the outside rather than from the inside. It gets quieter during the low season.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a baby sitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this visit for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled game booklet. Younger children can participate, but they will need the help of the parents or older siblings to understand the game booklet.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided. The wait should not last long though.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the Palazzo Vecchio?
Of course, you are free to stay inside the palace if you wish to continue exploring it once the tour is finished. If you exit the building however, you won’t be able to get back inside.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Yes, the Palazzo Vecchio is wheelchair friendly and there are elevators to bring people with reduced mobility to the upper floors. Strollers are tolerated, but if the child can walk, then you will have to leave the stroller at the cloakroom.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will. They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt his/her speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
