Description

The Palace of Versailles is one of the highlights when traveling to Paris. Located outside the French capital, this is where the last kings of France ruled, lived and feasted in grand luxury.

Meet your private, fully licensed guide, and follow them as they take you inside the Palace of Versailles, which you will discover through a visit of the King’s State Apartments. Witness the grandeur of the Palace as you make your way to the Hercules, Mercury and Apollo rooms (among other luxurious rooms) as well as the famous and dazzling Hall of Mirrors… This hall, many times copied throughout the world but never equaled in its beauty, offers a magnificent view of the palace’s gardens.

To keep the young ones entertained and engaged, they will each receive a fun-filled game.

At the end of the tour, if you choose so, your guide will leave you for a non-guided tour of the magnificent gardens which you can discover at your own pace.

For a privately guided full day experience at the Palace of Versailles, including the palace, the gardens, Queen Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet, and a cycling tour, please check our Exploring the Palace of Versailles & Cycling tour.

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting the Palace of Versailles at the same time.
How can I get to Versailles?
The Palace of Versailles is not easily reachable by public transport. You will have to take the commuter train that links Paris to the city of Versailles several times per hour. Then, it is a 15-minute walk from the closest station of Versailles to the Palace. The best and most convenient way is to book a private chauffeur. Please contact us if you would like us to arrange transportation for you.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
When is the best time to visit the Palace of Versailles?
The Palace can unfortunately get very crowded during the holidays and summer season. To avoid dense crowds, it is better to start the tour at the opening or later in the afternoon. But even then, it might get very busy.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend families with children under the age of 6 to avoid bringing their children to Versailles, unless they spend a bit of time in the gardens. Children need to know how to read and write in order to fully enjoy the game booklets.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the Palace of Versailles or go back in?
Unfortunately, once the tour is finished, you cannot go back inside. You can stay as long as you want in the gardens though, and enjoy the beauty of the different groves.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
During the high season, it is not recommended to bring a stroller, but the Palace of Versailles is accessible for people with reduced mobility
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt their speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
