Description

Meet your private, fully licensed guide in front of the Doge’s Palace, and follow them as they take you to the major highlights of Saint Mark’s Square, the most iconic square of Venice.

This tour starts off with a visit of the Doge’s Palace, inside what was once the heart of Venetian politics. From the Palace’s courtyard to the Chamber of the Great Council, Europe’s largest room, by way of the creepy prisons, let your guide tell you and your children all about the history and secrets of this iconic palace.

Next comes the visit of Saint Mark’s Basilica. After looking at its peculiar facade and golden mosaics, skip the line and enter this holy place, which still holds the remains of St. Mark the Evangelist.

Back outside, gaze at the beauty of this iconic square, with the bell tower and the buildings surrounding the square. Your private guide will tell you about the stories and historical events that have taken place here, which will surely interest all the members of your family.

The tour ends with a skip-the-line access to the top of the Campanile, Venice’s other landmark on Saint Mark’s Square. Your guide will drop you off at the foot of the tower, and after a quick elevator ride, you’ll soon be enjoying the 360° view from Venice’s highest point (unguided).

A game booklet and a gift are given to each child to ensure they will learn as much as they have fun.

FAQ's

Are the tickets to the Campanile really skip-the-line?
From April 1st to October 31st, the Venetian authorities deliver skip-the-line tickets to the Campanile which are included in this tour. During the low season, these tickets are not available, and the guides will do their best to let you in without having to wait in line.
Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting the sights on Saint Mark’s Square at the same time.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
When is the best time to visit Saint Mark’s Square?
During the summer season and special holidays, there is no best time, as Saint Mark’s Square is always very crowded. But the skip-the-line tickets will avoid any long waits in line to enter the Doge’s Palace, the Basilica and the Campanile. The crowds are less in the winter months.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this tour for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled game booklet. But our family-friendly guide will be able to adapt to younger children if necessary.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be some waiting. Our guides will do their best to try to avoid these lines.
Why is the Campanile not guided?
We don’t think it is necessary to have a guide go up with your family to the top of the Campanile. This would mean paying them more just to enjoy a view. Should you really want your guide with you at the top, please do let us know and we can arrange that (extra costs apply).
Once the tour is finished, can we go back in the monuments previously visited?
You can stay inside the Campanile for as long as you want and walk on Saint Mark’s Square until sunset if you want (get a coffee at the oldest café in Venice: Café Florian), but to get back inside the Doge’s Palace, you’ll need a new ticket. As for the Basilica, you will have to wait in line to get in again. And if you want to visit the inside of the Bell Tower, you will also need to purchase a ticket.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Technically, Venice is not the best place for wheelchairs or strollers as it’s only going up and down bridges and walking in very narrow (and crowded) streets. That been said, the Doge’s Palace and the Basilica are stroller and wheelchair friendly.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! It is probably what they have been waiting for, and they will get beautiful pictures and selfies for their social media accounts!
