Description

Did you know that Leonardo Da Vinci, the famous Italian Renaissance artist/inventor and creator of the world-famous Mona Lisa painting, spent his last years in the Loire Valley and is buried in Amboise?

In the 16th century, Da Vinci was invited the French king Francis I to help him design the Château de Chambord. He was given another nearby château as a home: le Clos Lucé.

Meet your private, fully-licensed guide and let them show you around the inventor’s former house. Follow your guide as they take your family through some of the key rooms of the mansion, including Da Vinci’s bedroom, dining room, kitchen and his atelier where he painted some of his masterpieces.

Then, proceed to the basement and gardens, where some real fun awaits. They feature some of Da Vinci’s extraordinary inventions. Your children will be able to play with these life size inventions and understand the genius’ work.

The children will be kept entertained and engaged throughout the visit as they will each get a fun-filled game booklet.

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the tour. But there will be other people visiting the Clos Lucé of course.
How can I get there?
The best way is by car. If you want us to handle the transfer from your hotel to the Clos Lucé and back, please let us know.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this tour for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled game booklet. Younger kids are welcome and will be amazed by all the fun inventions in the basement and gardens, but parents will have to keep an eye on them. Remember, your private guide is not a babysitter.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided. The wait will not last long though.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the property or go back in?
Yes, you can stay in the chateau or walk in the park (a very nice stroll). But once you leave the enclosed property, you will not be able to get back inside.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Yes, the Clos Lucé is wheelchair and stroller friendly but the rooms upstairs are not accessible.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt their speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
