In a genuine professional mosaic workshop located in downtown Rome, let your family experience this wonderful Italian craft. Meet your private, experienced teacher, a professional who restores old Roman mosaics and exceptionally opens her workshop to your family, and learn everything about the ancient art of mosaic-making.

It all starts with choosing the design or pattern you prefer. There are many patterns based on ancient Roman designs to choose from.

Once you are ready, just follow the clear instructions of your private teacher, and you will create one unique family masterpiece.

After cutting the tiles, carefully place them on the frame. Watch as the motif starts to appear as you slowly place the colored tiles… And once everything is in place, add the finishing touches before walking out with your own beautiful mosaic creation!

FAQ's

Is this a private activity?
It sure is. Your family members will be the only ones in the art workshop, along with your private art teacher.
Do the parents participate?
Of course! Everyone will be participating in create a family masterpiece. That is the fun part!
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
Mosaic-making is quite difficult, and children under 6 might not have the level of precision required to do a good job. However, they can participate by teaming up with a parent. Some of the steps (including cutting the colored stones) will not be proposed to younger children.
Can I create a mosaic that is not an Ancient Roman pattern?
The idea of this workshop is to introduce you and your family to Roman mosaics, which you will find in many of the old Roman vestiges (and in the Vatican as well). But should you want to do something different, you are more than welcome to. At the end, creating a family-bonding moment where everyone enjoys themselves is what matters most.
Do I need to bring special material?
No! You don’t need to bring anything as all the material is prepared for you.
Are we leaving the workshop with anything?
Of course, you will leave the workshop with your creation. We will make sure that these do not become too bulky, so you can easily put them in your suitcase when coming back home.
Will my teenage kids like the activity?
If they like arts & crafts, they will love this hands-on activity. It is fun and interesting. With this hands-on workshop, the teenagers will realize how difficult it is to make a mosaic and how incredible the large Roman mosaics really are.
