Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence of the Hapsburgs, one of the most powerful royal families in Europe for centuries. This true architectural gem reflects the wealth and refinement of this family, and Vienna in general.

Often compared to the Palace of Versailles in France for its beauty, elegance and size, Schönbrunn Palace is not to be missed when traveling with children to Vienna.

Meet your private, fully-licensed guide and let them show you the most fascinating details and highlights of Schönbrunn Palace. From the Great Gallery where Queen Maria Theresa threw large balls to strengthen her political power to the more intimate rooms of the palace, you will see it all and hear the many entertaining fun facts that come with it.

To make it even more engaging for the children, they will each get a fun-filled game booklet. Exploring Schönbrunn Palace is the best way to discover this Austrian highlight when traveling to Vienna with kids.

If you wish, you can visit the gardens, the stagecoach museum and the zoo at leisure. There is so much to do at Schönbrunn Palace that you can stay there for a whole day!

Please contact us if you want to do the “Schönbrunn for Kids” tour (visit of a smaller part of the Palace, with a possibility to wear a costume) rather than the “Highlights” tour.

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the tour. But there will be other people visiting the palace of course.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this highlights tour for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled game booklet. For younger children, please contact us, as we can arrange a private tour through the Schönbrunn Kids Museum, which is highly interactive and dedicated to them.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided. The wait will not last long though.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the Palace or go back in?
Unfortunately, not. The palace is not a place where you can wander around and the visit is done through a sequence of rooms (fixed itinerary). Once you leave the inside of the Palace, you won’t be able to get back inside. But there are great things to do besides the inside of the Palace: the zoo (the oldest in the world!), the stage coach museum, the puppet theater are great things to visit on your own.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Yes, the Palace is wheelchair friendly and there are elevators to bring disabled people to the state rooms, so strollers are also welcome.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt their speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
