DESCRIPTION

In February 1888, Van Gogh took the train from Paris to the French Riviera. But the train stopped in Arles, and he disembarked…and immediately fell in love with the city and its particular light.
Meet your private, family-friendly guide in Arles and follow them in the footsteps of the great Post-Impressionist painter. Spend a full day looking back at his period in Provence, from Arles to Saint Rémy de Provence and compare the present with some of his most famous paintings.
Starting with Arles, see where he used to live (The Yellow House), where he painted A Starry Night Over The Rhône as well as many other places that inspired him. Your kid-friendly guide will add many details and fun facts to make it extra special for the young ones.
After this full exploration of Arles, hop aboard a private, fully-equipped minivan and head out to the former mental hospital of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (Saint Paul de Mausole) where Van Gogh once stayed in. Here too, you will be able to compare his paintings with what remains of the mental institution and its gardens.
The pace is perfectly adapted to children. A game booklet will also be given to keep your kids fully engaged and entertained.

FAQ's
Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit, as well as your own chauffeur and mini-van at your disposal in the afternoon. There will be other people visiting some areas at the same time though, as these places are not made private for your family.
Is there a lot of walking during the tour?
Because our tours are designed for families with children, we make sure the distances are not too long. Moreover, there are bakeries and ice-cream stores along the way, so you’ll be able to treat your children to something sweet during the tour if you want. That will keep them going!
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this walking tour for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled game booklet. Moreover, this is a long day, and there are no hands-on workshops included (but it can be arranged).
Can we add a painting workshop inspired by Van Gogh?
Sure you can. If you want us to organize a private hands-on workshop based on Van Gogh and his painting technique, then contact us. We have just the right person for you and your family with whom you will learn as much as you have fun painting in Saint Remy de Provence.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Technically, it is possible to bring a stroller or wheelchair, but the uneven cobblestone streets of old Arles and the narrow sidewalks might be a bit of a challenge.
What happens if it rains?
The tour will take place, even if it rains. Just make sure you bring an umbrella or a rain jacket.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will. They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt their speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
