The Splendors Of Grace Kelly’s Monaco
Follow into the footsteps of Princess Grace Kelly and discover the highlights of the old town of Monaco, the world’s second smallest country.
Monaco, or as some people call it, Monte-Carlo, is the second smallest country in the world after the Vatican. But within this small state lies a wealth of culture and history.
Follow your private, family-friendly guide as he/she takes you to “Le Rocher”, one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of the city/country, perched on top of a cliff. This is where you will find its most iconic highlights as well as the old historical city of Monaco.
Start your discovery by walking towards the top of the hill, and listen to your guide as he/she tells you all about the exciting history of the Principality. Not only will you have the most beautiful view on the coastline from both sides of “Le Rocher”, but you will also pass by the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, where all the Princes and Princesses of Monaco have lived and rules, including Prince Rainier and Princess Grace Kelly!
Then, after a short walk inside the old town, you will enter inside the Cathedral built in 1878. Inside, not only will you be able to discover a fantastic architecture, but you will also see the final resting place of the American actress turned Princess: Grace Kelly.
Make your way towards the Oceanographic Museum, the third true highlight of Monaco. Acting as an active research center since it was built, the Museum was directed by the famous oceanographer Jacques Yves Cousteau for many years.
This 1,5 hour walking tour ends with an enjoyable stroll through the gardens before going back down.
For a full experience, combine this activity with our Exploring Cousteau’s Underwater World, which will take you inside the Oceanographic Museum. Other possibilities include visiting the Prince’s Palace, or taking a walk to Monte Carlo, the new, glamorous and luxurious neighborhood of Monaco (not included in this walking tour, but this can be organized by Family Twist).
