Description

Meet your private Blue Badge guide and your chauffeur at your hotel and hop into your private Mercedes V-Class minivan to get to the famous Windsor Castle.

Built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror after the Norman invasion of England, the castle has gone through many changes as the centuries went by, eventually becoming the preferred weekend home of Queen Elisabeth II.

Follow your guide as they take you to the most iconic parts of the property, past the Round tower and its quaint little garden to the State Apartments. Admire the beauty of the interior of the palace, used today for hosting state visits, and learn about how a large part of the castle was destroyed during the fire of 1992 and rebuilt.

Once you exit the State Apartments, let your guide lead you to Saint George’s Chapel, where royal weddings still take place today.

To keep the children engaged and entertained throughout the visit, they will each get a fun-filled game booklet.

After this 3-hour tour, your private chauffeur and guide will drive you back to your hotel.

WARNING: Windsor Castle is a working area, and the castle or the State Apartments might close without prior notice.

For a more enjoyable and less crowded experience, it is better to plan this visit in the afternoon or arrive approx. 30mn before the opening time in the morning.

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide and chauffeur throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting Windsor Castle at the same time.
When is the best time to visit Windsor Castle?
During the summer season and special holidays, there is no best time, as Windsor is always very crowded. The best way to beat the crowds is to have an early start to the day, and arrive at Windsor before the opening time. It can also get very crowded in front of and inside the State Apartments.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a baby sitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this visit for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled scavenger hunt game booklet. Younger children can participate, but they will need the help of the parents or older siblings to finish the quest.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide prepaid tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided. Expect some waiting time in front of the State Apartments entrance. Here too, an early start or an afternoon visit will increase your chances to avoid waiting in line for too long.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the Castle or go back in?
Because the transfer and guide are included in your tour and are booked for a certain amount of time, it will not be possible to stay inside. Should you accept any extra fees to keep the guide and chauffeur for bit longer, and if their schedules enable it, you can stay inside Windsor castle.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Yes, Windsor Castle is wheelchair and stroller friendly and there are elevators to bring people with reduced mobility to the upper floors.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! Windsor is such an iconic place that they will enjoy every minute of this tour. They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt their speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
