Description

If there is one kind of art that best describes Barcelona, it would have to be mosaics. World-famous Catalan architects like Antoni Gaudí or Lluís Domènech i Montaner used mosaics in their designs.

During the first part of this experience, meet your private, fully-licensed guide and let them take you to a UNESCO World Heritage site (either Hospital Sant Pau or Casa Vicens depending on the availability). These sites are renowned for their beautiful mosaics, which you will get to see during this 1-hour privately guided tour.

After a short walk to a cozy little workshop in Barcelona, meet your private, experienced art teacher and let them give you the secrets to making your own Gaudi-like mosaic. In pairs, you will design your own beautiful tray. It all starts by drawing the design of your mosaic creation on the bottom of the tray. After breaking some colored tiles, you will need to assemble the pieces and colors you want to bring your drawing to life.

This is a great way to learn about the art of mosaics used by the Catalan architects while having a great time.

Since these creations need to dry, we will deliver your mosaic trays to your hotel 24 to 48 hours after the workshop.

FAQ's

Is this a private activity?
It sure is. Your family members will be the only ones in the art workshop, along with your private art teacher.
Do the parents participate?
Of course! Everyone will be creating their own artistic creation in teams. That is the fun part!
Can we make something else than a tray?
Although a tray is something that we think is the best object as it is decorative and useful, you can make your own mosaic creating on any material that your teacher has at their disposal.
How far walking is the workshop from the UNESCO site?
For both possibilities, the walking distance is short. It will take not more than 10-15 minutes to reach the workshop.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend children to be at least 6 in order to fully enjoy this experience. Mosaics can be tough, and you will need accuracy and patience. For younger kids, it might be better to have them stick with paper and crayons, but they are more than welcome to join.
Do I need to bring special material?
No! You do not need to bring anything as all the material is prepared for you.
Are we leaving the workshop with anything?
These trays need to dry before you can carry them, so you will not be leaving the workshop with anything. Your creations will be delivered to your hotel 24 to 48 hours after the workshop.
Will my teenage kids like the activity?
If they like arts & crafts, they will love this hands-on activity. If not, we recommend one of our other engaging activities in Barcelona.
