Description

Meet your private, family-friendly guide and let them take you back some 2,000 years ago on a wonderful tour of the Colosseum of Rome. It is a great way to visit this iconic Roman landmark with your children and relive the entertainment that was held here in the past.

Our skip-the-line tickets will grant you easy access to the Colosseum of Rome. Once inside, listen to your guide as they tell you all about the gladiators, these fearless warriors who used to fight each other or wild animal for entertainment purposes.

You will also understand how the Colosseum was set up for these public entertainment events. You will be surprised to see how modern it was. Just imagine a crowd of 80,000 people cheering their hero in this impressive arena!

Not only will the guide keep your children highly engaged with fascinating stories and facts, but each child will be offered an entertaining game booklet at the beginning of the visit, full of questions and riddles. At the end of the tour, your little Ancient Rome specialists will each receive a gift.

Our Colosseum private tour is truly the best and most kid-friendly way to discover this Roman landmark and the history behind it.

You can combine this tour with an additional 1-hour privately guided visit to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (including guide and skip-the-line tickets to the site located right next to the Colosseum). Check out our 3-hour Exploring the Colosseum and Ancient Rome tour.

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting the Colosseum at the same time.
When is the best time to visit the Colosseum?
During the summer season and special holidays, there is no best time, as the Colosseum is always very crowded. But the skip-the-line tickets will avoid any long waits in line. The crowds are less in the winter months. In May or September, the weather is pleasant, and the crowds are manageable.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this tour for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled game booklet. But our family-friendly guide will be able to adapt to younger children if necessary.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided.
Will we visit the undergrounds and the panoramic view terrace?
The underground parts of the Colosseum and the panoramic view terrace are not included in the tour, as these are special tours only provided by the Colosseum with their own guides. These guides are not trained to handle families with children.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the Colosseum or go back in?
After two hours, we don’t think you’ll want to stay inside, but technically it is possible. But once you leave the premises, you will not be able to get back in. Should you have more time, we recommend you to do to the Roman Forum, which is right next to the Colosseum.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Although technically it is possible (they have a step-free access to the Colosseum), some parts will not be accessible to strollers or wheelchairs.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! It’s probably what they have been waiting for, and they will get beautiful pictures and selfies for their social media accounts!
What happens if it rains during the tour?
The tour cannot be canceled and will take place. Just remember to bring an umbrella. There are plenty of areas where you will be able to hide from the rain.
