Description
There is more to Venetian food than just pizza or pasta!
Meet your private, experienced foodie guide and follow them inside the famous Rialto Market (at the foot of Rialto Bridge). This is where the locals buy the freshest ingredients such as vegetables, meat and, of course, fish.
The tasting really begins after taking a traghetto (special public gondola) to cross the Grand Canal and head to Cannaregio, one of the 6 districts located in the north west of Venice. Walk into 2 delightful and typical taverns to taste specialties such as cod paste on bread, fried vegetables, fried meatballs, anchovies, cheese… These all come in bite-size portions and are kid-friendly although still very traditional. Think of tapas, but here in Venice they are known as cicchetti and are part of the local tradition.
The tour ends at a chocolate shop (winter) or ice cream parlor (summer) depending on the season. A perfect way to end a food tour when visiting Venice with children.
