The Treasures Of St. Mark’s Square
Discover the treasures of St. Mark’s Square through a fun-filled tour taking you inside the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Basilica and to the top of the Campanile.
Visiting St. Mark’s Square is a must when traveling to Venice with your family as it is Venice’s most iconic highlight. But the best way to enjoy this gem is to avoid the long waiting lines and boring classic visits.
Meet your fully licensed guide in front of the Doge’s Palace, and follow him/her inside what was once the heart of Venetian politics. From the Palace’s courtyard to the Chamber of the Great Council, Europe’s largest room, by way of the creepy prisons, let our guide tell you all about the history and secrets of this iconic palace, while keeping the young ones fully engaged.
A visit to Saint Mark’s Basilica is also part of the tour. After looking at its peculiar facade and golden mosaics, skip the line and enter this holy place, which still holds the remains of St. Mark the Evangelist. Get a chance to go behind the altar and gaze at the precious altarpiece, “Il Pala d’Oro”, the Golden Pall.
Back outside, gaze at the beauty of this iconic square, with the bell tower and the buildings surrounding the square, and hear about the stories and historical events that have taken place here.
The tour ends with a climb to the top of the Campanile, Venice’s landmark. Our guide will drop you off at the foot of the campanile, and your skip-the-line tickets (from April 1st to October 31st) will grant you a quick access to the top so you and your children can enjoy the 360° view from Venice’s highest point.
