ITINERARY

DAY 1: A WALK THROUGH MADRID

Morning: Arrival in Madrid

In the morning, your private chauffeur will pick you up at the airport or train station and drive you safely to your hotel in Madrid. Lunch at leisure.

Afternoon: A Walk Through Madrid

In the afternoon, meet your private guide at the starting point of the walking tour. Follow them through Madrid’s literary neighborhood in the footsteps of the Spanish writers, in search of the city’s highlights and best kept secrets. Cervantes, García Lorca.Quevedo, Lope de Vega, Calderó… These are only some of the most famous Spanish writers, and they have all walked the streets of Madrid. From the Cervantes statue to the Royal Palace, discover highlights such as Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol as well as off-the-beaten-path curiosities linked to these famous authors. This is a perfect way for you and your children to feel the history and great energy of this vibrant capital city.

DAY 2: THE PRADO & PICASSO

Morning: Masterpieces of the Prado

In the morning, meet your private, fully-licensed guide in front of the Prado Museum and follow them through the Prado’s highlights, including works by the most famous Spanish painters (El Greco, Velazquez, Goya) as well as renowned masters such as Bosch, Rubens and Tintoretto. You will also discover the museum’s treasures: “Las Meninas” by Velazquez among other iconic works, through this highly engaging and fun visit. Lunch at leisure.

Afternoon: Picasso and Modern Art

In the afternoon, meet your private, experienced art teacher in front of the Reina Sofia Museum and let them take you on a quick tour of the museum. Among other works by Picasso, Dali, Miró and other modern artists, you will see Guernica, and learn the symbolic value of this massive painting.
After a 10-minute walk to the workshop, you and your children will put on your aprons and enjoy creating your own reproduction of Picasso’s masterpiece. Just follow the instructions of your teacher, and let your creativity run free. It doesn’t need to be a perfect reproduction, it can also be a different version of Guernica. Who knows, maybe one day, your work will be exposed in this prestigious museum!

DAY 3: THE ROYAL PALACE AND FOOD TOUR

Morning: Life at the Royal Palace

In the morning, meet your private, fully-licensed guide in front of the Royal Palace and let them take you inside this royal residence. Although not inhabited anymore (the royal family now chooses to live in a smaller palace), this massive palace is still used for special events and formal state receptions today. Learn all about the history of the Spanish Royal family and make your way through the state rooms, from the reception halls to the large dining room and the throne room. Your guide will point out some of the most beautiful paintings, decorative objects and the impressive collection of Stradivarius string instruments. Once you exit the Palace itself, and if you still have a bit of time, you will be able to admire the view on Madrid from the panoramic terrace, and maybe even see the collection of armour. Lunch at leisure.

Afternoon: Madrid’s Culinary Delights

In the afternoon, meet your private foodie guide at the exit of subway station Chueca. More than just a food tour, this highly entertaining experience will give you some insight into the culinary treasures of Madrid. Follow your experienced guide through the streets of Madrid in search for those traditional delicacies. This 3-hour tour is the best way to explore the different riches of Madrid’s culinary tradition, and still keep the children happy, interested and curious!

DAY 4: DEPARTURE

Morning: Departure

Your chauffeur will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the airport or train station.
