Description

Meet your private Blue Badge guide and let them take you on a quest to hunt for clues and hints as you discover the museum’s most iconic highlights.

The visit starts with the true highlight of the museum: the world-famous Rosetta Stone, which was used by the French and English to decipher the Egyptian hieroglyphs.

A quick jump through time, and your whole family will be surrounded by wonderful marble sculptures and frescoes of the Parthenon, as well as gigantic winged bulls in the Assyrian section.

The tour ends back to the Ancient Egyptians, but this time with the mummies, which is always fascinating, both for kids and adults.

Not only will our guide make this visit highly entertaining and enjoyable for all the members of your family, but a game booklet full of questions, riddles and games will grab the children’s attention until the end.

The Mystery at the British Museum tour is a fascinating and educative way to unearth the human mysteries and have your children learn as much as they have fun.

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting the museum at the same time.
When is the best time to visit the British Museum?
It is always better to avoid weekends as it can get very busy at that time. The British Museum is a free museum and locals generally go there on weekends to enjoy its cultural treasures. For a less crowded experience, it is better to book this activity on a weekday.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this museum visit for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled game booklet. Younger children can participate, but they will need the help of the parents or older siblings to answer the questions.
Will we have to wait in line?
Waiting in line is inevitable at the British Museum for security checks. But with your guide, you will get a priority access to avoid waiting in line for too long.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the museum or go back in?
Of course, you are free to stay inside the museum if you wish to continue exploring it once the tour is finished. Our tour cannot cover the whole collection, so we highly recommend staying a while longer. And since the museum is free, you can exit and go back inside whenever you want (but going there on your own means you will not be able to have priority access).
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Yes, the British museum is wheelchair friendly and there are elevators to bring disabled people to the upper floors. Strollers are tolerated, but if the child can walk, then you will have to leave the stroller at the cloakroom.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure, they will. They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt their speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
