Description

The HMY Britannia (Her Majesty’s Yacht Britannia, also called the Royal Britannia) was the official yacht of the Royal Family. On this large yacht, the Queen and her family traveled the 7 seas in the utmost comfort and luxury until it was decommissioned in 1997.

Your before-opening-hours VIP experience starts by meeting your family-friendly guide at the royal entrance of The Royal Britannia, which is now permanently docked in Leith (Edinburgh’s harbor). A red carpet is there to welcome you aboard.

During the tour, you will visit the engine room and the crew quarters before making your way up to the royal deck and the captain’s quarters.

Let your guide tell you all about life on board this ship when Her Majesty was traveling. Thanks to their explanations you and your family will understand how the royals and the crew lived on board this well-travelled yacht. And because you are the Queen’s guests, you will have the privilege to go where only very few people go…

Is this a private tour?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. The boat will be made private for your family only.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
Kids younger than 6 years old are welcome to join this VIP experience, although they might not really appreciate the uniqueness of this experience. The engine rooms, the crew quarters and the stories of life inside the ship will keep children of any age engaged.
How do I get to the Royal Britannia in the morning?
The best way is to book a transfer with us, as it will be more convenient. Otherwise, you can take a taxi or even the bus to reach the ship. Once there, and since the regular entrance is closed, you will have to access the dock through a special entrance located on the backside of the main Ocean Terminal building.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a baby sitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
What is included in the breakfast?
Tea, orange juice, scones, toast, jam and butter are served for breakfast. If you wish to eat something else, it might be charged extra on the spot.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
