Description

Meet your private, experienced guide in the South of Amsterdam and let them take you for a 3-hour bicycle tour along the quiet banks of the Amstel River, far from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

Start off with a few safety rules (helmets are required for the young ones) and by adjusting your bicycles. Then, make your way to the banks using only dedicated lanes for bicycles. No need to worry about traffic here!

While on your bicycles, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the Amstel River and the typical countryside landscapes. There are several interesting stops along the way: a small petting zoo, a statue of Rembrandt, and of course, a traditional windmill. You will even get to cross the Amstel River on a small boat, and enjoy a picnic snack once you reach the other side of the river.

And just to make sure the kids are kept engaged and entertained during the full duration of the bicycle tour, they will each receive a fun-filled game booklet.

WARNING: It is absolutely necessary to know how to ride a bicycle to enjoy this tour. Anyone who does not know how to ride a bicycle will not be able to participate.

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
This is a privately-guided cycling tour, and you will have your own private guide and your own bicycle. No one else will be participating in this tour.
How long and how difficult is the cycling tour?
This cycling tour was designed for families traveling with children, so the level of difficulty is very low. It is necessary to know how to ride a bike though, as this is not a bike riding lesson. The tour is done on dedicated bike lanes to avoid the traffic.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 8 years old?
No. The child needs to be 12 or more. Children must know how to ride a bicycle, and must know how to read and write in order to fully enjoy the game booklet handed over at the beginning of the tour.
How substantial is the snack?
This is not a meal, but rather some light snacks just to take a break from the bikes and enjoy the countryside. You might even be able to pet a cow or two!
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! For older children, we can even push the distances a little and explore the wonders of rural Holland even farther away from the city center.
What happens if it rains?
Unless the conditions are considered too risky and unsafe by the guide, the tour cannot be cancelled or postponed due to light rain. The picnic might not take place in the park, but will be offered somewhere else.
