Description
Flowers (and not just tulips) are a real part of the Dutch culture, and for hundreds of years, the Netherlands have been the world capital for flower trading.
Meet your private, experienced guide and your chauffeur at the hotel and hop on board a luxurious, fully-equipped Mercedes V-Class minivan. Your first stop is the flower auction warehouse of Aalsmeer, where millions of flowers are in transit to and from places all over the world. Follow your guide and walk above the busy working area. From this point of view, this place really looks like a busy ant farm! A great way to understand what the flower business is all about.
Hop back in the car after this 30min visit and head out to a local flower grower in the outskirts of Amsterdam. There, you will learn how the flowers (mostly roses) are grown and how to keep your flowers at home beautiful and alive. During the flower season (in March only), you will pass by many flower fields and witness the beautiful colored horizon.
The guide and chauffeur will drop you off at the hotel at the end of this wonderful, family friendly Flowers of Holland activity.
NOTE: Due to extreme crowds during the month of March (flower season), the visit to the auction warehouse will be replaced by a visit to another flower farm where everyone in the family will be able to pick their own flowers and make their own bouquet.
