Description
Beyond Otranto lies a wilder side of Salento, where coastal trails wind between Mediterranean vegetation, dramatic cliffs, hidden bays, and landscapes shaped by centuries of history. Accompanied by your private guide, you will set out on foot to experience this beautiful coastline away from the crowds.
As you walk, stories and legends bring the landscape to life, while spectacular viewpoints reveal the turquoise waters and rugged cliffs of Italy’s easternmost coastline. Pause at Baia dell’Orte for an outdoor lunch surrounded by nature before continuing towards the extraordinary Bauxite Lake, where vivid red earth and emerald-green water create one of the area’s most distinctive landscapes.
The hike is completely adaptable according to your family’s abilities and preferences. A shorter version can begin at the entrance to the nature reserve, and Baia dell’Orte can also be reached by transfer for direct access to the restaurant. More active families can extend the adventure and walk all the way back to Otranto.
Meeting point: Otranto Harbour, or the entrance to the nature reserve for the shorter version.
Ending point: Baia dell’Orte restaurant or Bauxite Lake, depending on the selected route. An extended route back to Otranto is also possible.
