Description
Back in the 17th century, there were no cameras. It was only fusain or paint. Rich people would have their portraits painted by famous painters, such as Rembrandt, Vermeer or Frans Hals. These artists are famous for their portraits, but also their self-portraits.
Meet your private, experienced art teacher and start dressing up as a 17th century wealthy Dutch family. Make sure you look nice as you are about to take a 17th century selfie! A photo will be taken of each member of your family (as well as a family photo).
The individual photos will serve as a basis for your self-portrait. With the help of your art teacher, start creating your self-portrait, following the basic steps and engage in a wonderful, family-bonding moment!
This Rembrandt self-portrait workshop is a great activity to combine with a visit to the Rijksmuseum (The treasures of the Rijksmuseum).
