The Rijksmuseum is one of the most beautiful and popular museums in Amsterdam, and houses a priceless collection of works of art, with paintings by the Holland’s most talented classic artists such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals and more!

Meet your private, experienced guide in front of the Rijksmuseum and let them show you the main highlights of this world class fine arts museum. Dive into the heart of Holland’s Golden Age: the 17th century, at a time when this small country ruled the world and had enough wealth to pay the best painters.

Among the many masterpieces you will find there, you will of course discover Rembrandt’s Night Watch, the true iconic painting of this collection. The many fun facts behind this painting are quite simply fascinating.

Other highlights include paintings by Johannes Vermeer and Frans Hals, all exposed in the Rijksmuseum’s Gallery of Honors.

To make this experience unforgettable for your children, they will each get a fun-filled game booklet. This will surely keep them engaged and entertained during this 2-hour tour. Rembrandt and his friends will have no more secrets for your family!

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting the museum at the same time.
When is the best time to visit the Rijksmuseum Museum?
During the summer season, flower season and special holidays, there is no best time, as the Rijksmuseum is always very crowded. Going there during off-peak moments is ideal, preferably in the morning.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this museum visit for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled scavenger hunt game booklet. Younger children can participate, but they will need the help of the parents or older siblings to finish the quest.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided. The wait should not last long though.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the museum or go back in?
Of course, you are free to stay inside the museum if you wish to take a second look at some of the highlights or spend more time in front of other works. However, if you exit the building, you cannot go back in.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Yes, the Rijksmuseum is wheelchair friendly and there are elevators to bring disabled people to the upper floors. Strollers are tolerated, but if the child can walk, then you will have to leave the stroller at the cloakroom.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! Rembrandt’s life and times, as well as other painters from that period, are quite interesting for everyone.
