Ostia Antica is one of the largest and most famous archaeological sites in Italy, often compared to Pompeii for its beauty, size and historical interest. It lies just outside of Rome.

Meet your private, fully licensed guide at the entrance of the archaeological site and let them guide you through the ancient streets of Ostia Antica. Your guide will lead you to some of the most amazing and well-preserved ruins of what was once the port of Rome.

Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting Ostia Antica at the same time.
How can I get to Ostia Antica?
Ostia Antica is quite easily reachable as there is a commuter train that links Rome to the coast several times per hour, stopping at Ostia Antica. Then, it is a 5-minute walk from the station to the archaeological site. The best and most convenient way is to book a private chauffeur. Please contact us if you would like us to arrange transportation for you.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you choose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
When is the best time to visit Ostia Antica?
Unlike Pompeii, the archaeological site of Ostia Antica is not very crowded, even during the busy months of summer. For an optimal visit in terms of weather, plan to go there in May/June or September / October.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend families with children under the age of 6 to avoid bringing their children to Ostia Antica. Children need to know how to read and write in order to fully enjoy the game booklets, and because it is far from the city center, it’s not as flexible as a tour in the city center.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the archaeological site?
Yes, of course you can. The area is huge, and there are always a lot of things that can be seen which are not included in the tour. But with children, a 2-hour tour is enough.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Technically it is possible, but the road is very bumpy, and some sites will not be accessible.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! They might not want to have the game booklet, but since it is a private tour, our professional guide will adapt their speech to keep your teenagers engaged and entertained throughout the tour.
