Description

If you want a traditional hands-on experience, then this is it, as everyone in Vienna knows how to dance the Waltz. It’s not just part of the local culture: it’s an institution. Each year, hundreds of balls are organized, where both professionals and amateurs sway and turn to the sound of classical waltz music.

This introduction to the Waltz is a unique opportunity for you and your children to learn about the Waltz (and another type of traditional dance called the Quadrille) and have a great time together.

Meet your private instructor and follow his lead. In no time, you and your family will learn the basic steps of the Waltz. It’s a very accessible dance, so just relax and let your feet do the rest!

This introductory class is also a great opportunity to learn about the history of this dance and why it became so popular in this part of the world. Moreover, there is a great deal of etiquette involved, and this is something you and your children will also learn.

So come have fun learning what the Waltz is all about. This family bonding moment is an experience you and your children will cherish for the many years to come!

FAQ's

Is this a private activity?
Of course it is! You are going to have the instructor and the room all for your family, and no one else will be joining this private dance and etiquette lesson.
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
Children over the age of 6 are probably going to have a lot more fun learning how to dance as they can coordinate their movements better. But if you have younger children, they are welcome to join.
Can I learn other types of dances?
Your private instructor is a dance specialist and knows a lot of dances (tango, salsa etc.). Since we want to show you the real Austrian traditions, we focus on the waltz but you can ask your teacher for a brief introduction on another type of dance.
Do I need to bring special dance shoes or clothes?
If you have special shoes, it is better to bring them, but this is clearly not an obligation. The same goes for your clothes. Come as you like is the policy here. This is nothing formal, just a fun-filled introduction on the waltz.
Will teenagers enjoy this activity?
If they enjoy dance and trying something new, then definitely! They can also take what they learn here and use it to impress their friends back home. However, if they don't enjoy dance, then we recommend checking out some of our other Vienna activities.
