Description

Meet your private, experienced guide in front of the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, and let them take you in the footsteps of one of the most famous Post-Impressionist painters in the world: Vincent Van Gogh.

During this family-friendly 2-hour discovery of the museum, you and your children will see some of his most iconic paintings and understand how he used colors and brush strokes to express his emotions.

From his early paintings, such as the masterpiece “The Potato Eaters” to his last painting, by way of the famous Sun Flowers and his numerous self-portraits, you and your children will love each minute of this wonderful experience.

To make sure your children learn as much as they have fun, we will hand out a game booklet to each child, turning this visit into a great, unforgettable experience.

FAQ's

Is this tour private?
Yes, it is. No one else will be joining your private tour, and you will have your own private guide throughout the visit. However, there will be other people visiting the museum at the same time.
When is the best time to visit the Van Gogh Museum?
During the summer season, flower season and special holidays, there is no best time, as the Van Gogh Museum is always very crowded. Going there during off-peak moments is ideal.
Are the parents staying with the children or separated?
We always promote a family-bonding moment, where parents and children enjoy an activity together as a family. So, parents and children will not be separated. However, if you chose to send your children on this activity alone, it is possible, provided that a babysitter accompanies the children regardless of the age, for insurance purposes (our guides are not responsible for the children).
Is it suitable for kids under 6 years old?
We recommend this museum visit for kids aged 6 or older, because they must know how to read and write in order to enjoy the fun-filled scavenger hunt game booklet. Younger children can participate, but they will need the help of the parents or older siblings to finish the quest.
Will we have to wait in line?
We provide skip-the-line tickets, but on very busy days, there might be a line for security checks which cannot be avoided. The wait should not last long though.
Once the tour is finished, can we stay inside the museum or go back in?
Of course, you are free to stay inside the museum if you wish to take a second look at some of the highlights or spend more time in front of other, lesser known works. However, if you exit the building, you cannot go back in.
Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
Yes, the Van Gogh museum is wheelchair friendly and there are elevators to bring disabled people to the upper floors. Strollers are tolerated, but if the child can walk, then you will have to leave the stroller at the cloakroom.
Will my teenage kids like the tour?
Sure they will! Vincent Van Gogh’s life and times are quite interesting for everyone.
