The Opera dei Pupi is one of Sicily’s most treasured artistic traditions, combining craftsmanship, storytelling, and history into a unique form of theatrical art recognized by UNESCO. This experience invites your family to discover this remarkable heritage from the inside, in an authentic artisan workshop in the heart of Ortigia.

Guided by a local craftsman, you will learn about the history and symbolism of these legendary puppets before creating your own unique character. Each participant will paint their puppet, then assemble its distinctive armor and costume, discovering the care and artistry behind every detail.

Designed for both children and adults, this workshop encourages creativity while introducing an important part of Sicilian culture through hands-on making rather than observation alone. At the end of the experience, you’ll leave not only with a one-of-a-kind souvenir, but also with a deeper appreciation for one of Sicily’s most enduring traditions.
